I have done some tests and the problem seems to be the following:

The printer works perfectly if you instal EITHER the firmware from the
foo2zjs site (with "getweb" and "arm2dl") OR from HP (with "hp-setup").
If your system has both firmware files and also both UDEV rules files
and upload scripts, the firmware is tried to get uploaded twice which
makes the printer crash. The red lines blinks alone for a longer time
and then the green light goes on.

You should get back to a working state by deactivating the firmware file
from foo2zjs with

sudo chmod -r /usr/share/foo2zjs/firmware/sihp1020.dl

and then turning off and turning on the printer again, so that only HP's
firmware uploader uploads the firmware. Then the printer should print.
