Here's the requested files, with some explanations: xorg.conf It appears messy he! In fact, it's the result of X not wanting to load properly (i.e. not leading me to the GDM login screen), and asking me to choose another video card/screen configuration. That explains the result of a xorg.conf file with 2 sections for video devices, one pointing to the fglrx driver (which is not working) and the other pointing to ati (radeon) driver (which is the one that I have to choose if I want things to work).
Xorg.radeon.log That's the log file when radeon driver is used. Xorg.fglrx.log That's the log file when fglrx is used. See in particular the following section: (WW) fglrx(0): *********************************************** (WW) fglrx(0): * DRI initialization failed! * (WW) fglrx(0): * (maybe driver kernel module missing or bad) * (WW) fglrx(0): * 2D acceleraton available (MMIO) * (WW) fglrx(0): * no 3D acceleration available * (WW) fglrx(0): ********************************************* * ** Attachment added: "xorg.conf" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/13551298/xorg.conf -- Hardy: fglrx not working for ATI card https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/215702 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
