Public bug reported:

Not sure if this is actually xfce4-mixer or some Pulseaudio-related
thing. Either way, in xfce4-mixer I get the option of one device - "HDA
Intel" which has no controls. Consequently the associated XFCE Panel
applet doesn't do anything useful either.

The same hardware is fine using the new Pulseaudio server under GNOME.
Up-to-date packages as of now, which I guess would make it the release
candidate.

My sound card, according to lspci:

00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801FB/FBM/FR/FW/FRW (ICH6
Family) High Definition Audio Controller (rev 04)

** Affects: xfce4-mixer (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
