Found that my entire /etc/apt/sources.list was wiped. Typed in sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list and /etc/fstab was on the page. I have deleted that and replaced it with a backup of /etc/apt/sources.list and now seem to be able to upgrade again. At this point system seems to be working OK. Ian Mayne
