I have the same problem: my atapi cd/dvd device is not detected in 8.04
beta after installation (but is was obviously detected during install,
since I installed from cd); primary device is a sata hdd. This is only
on 8.04 beta, 7.10 works fine. I would really appreciate if this could
be fixed for 8.04.

Actually I have no idea where I should report this; there seem to be multiple 
bugs, all apparently related to the fact that atapi cd/sata hdd does not work.
The thing seems to be running for quite some time already...
