I was able to fix the issue as per the instructions at

systemsettings/+bug/114286/comments/13, so I am flagging this as a
duplicate of bug # 114286.
However, the problem for some reason re-surfaced with Hardy although bug
# 114286 is marked as "Fix Released" for Gutsy...
