Same here. This is very bad because in the past we used to have a nice
dialog explaining why DVD support could not be installed by default and
how to turn it on. Now we just have a poor error.
To fix this, just run sudo /usr/share/doc/libdvdread3/install-css.sh.

Binary package hint: totem
Currently using Hardy Heron and I Love it! Sure, it's still beta, but
I've had hardly any problems.
After a most recent update, however, the totem movie player stopped
playing DVDs. This worked on the initial install of BETA, and because
there was 5 updates of over 260 MB, I can't trace which update did it.
But now, upon entering any DVD, I get the message,
"Could not read from resource".
- Under playlist I always have "1" and "2", regardless of the DVD. Tried
- 6 DVDs, none of them worked. Any ideas?
+ Under playlist I always have "1" and "2", regardless of the DVD.
+
+ This happens with CSS-encrypted DVDs, others work right.
Thanks.
