Can you please post logs from such an install attempt? If this is the
alternate CD, go to the menu and select save installer logs, then attach
/var/log/syslog and /var/log/partman. If this is the desktop CD, follow
the instructions at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingUbiquity/AttachingLogs and attach
/var/log/syslog and /var/log/partman.
