Thanks for your suggestion. The work to enable easier file sharing with samba has already been done in the samba and pam packages (namely enable net usershare and add pam_smbpass to the pam authentification stack to keep password synchronized between the system and the samba password database). It's up to the application that create samba shares in kubuntu to use this. Reassigning to kdenetwork.
