So, we've at least verified with two vendors utilizing an ION 603
variant (with an Award BIOS) that the libDDC patch accomplishes what we
intended: to bypass reliance on BIOS environment to get correct DDC
information.

We've also verified that the same works and introduces no regression on
unrelated hardware running another vendor's BIOS (General Software),
this time a DBE61 (which also happens to be a Linutop-1).

Given this, would an immediate GEODE 2.8.1 release sound like a
reasonable path to resolve at least part of this bug (detection of
resolutions larger than 800x600 on an ION 603)? Jordan? Would there be
any chance of getting such a 2.8.1 into Hardy as a bug fixing release?
Steve?

This of course leaves open the issue of getting X to use GEODE on Geode-
based hardware, rather than revert to VESA. This should be the title of
a separate bug, entitled "X fails to detect Geode LX hardware and to use
the GEODE driver on a host without xorg.conf".
