Public bug reported:

When the clock configuration of PC is wrong, during the initialization
of Ubuntu (7.10) a question message is shown, asking to me if I want
configure the correct date (before the gnome desktop be shown).

If I select "no", the gnome desktop is shown normally with the wrong
date. But if I select to configure the date, Ubuntu alert me that my
user account don't have administrator privileges, and simply stops (the
gnome desktop isn't shown).

Then I only can use the cursor, or reset the system.

** Affects: ubuntu
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New

Ubuntu doesn't load the gnome desktop when the user tries configure the date
during initialization (only the cursor and login screen background are shown)
