Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: pulseaudio

Hardy is released on Thursday I believe, and it's not too late to
disable Pulse Audio by default in new Hardy installs. I am not saying
that Pulse Audio should be removed, I STRONGLY believe that Pulse Audio
should be turned off, but be available to be turned on for those that
want it. Here are the reasons I feel this way:

1.) It doesn't seem that all the Pulse Audio utilities are even
included, making the Pulse Audio just an ordinary sound server with no
performance or feature gain.

2.) If you use Flash in Firefox, libflashsupport, which gives you sound
from Flash when using Pulse Audio, isn't even installed alongside
flashplugin-nonfree anymore, which means those that install the flash
plugin will not have sound in Firefox Flash applications/movies. If
libflashsupport is installed to give Firefox sound with Flash and Pulse
Audio, Firefox becomes unstable and crashes constantly. (Even on
64-bit!!!)

3.) Other apps are not able to utilize Pulse Audio at all, such as
xmame-sdl and Wine.

4.) The Ubuntu Forums will be flooded by people not having sound in
certain apps, especially complaining about Firefox.

5.) Pulse Audio is not stable enough for a LTS release. On the official
Pulse Audio website, I quote: "The PulseAudio daemon and utilities are
still under heavy development. Although they are generally considered
stable, they haven't seen enough testing to warrant a first completely
stable release."

I feel that Pulse Audio should be included in Hardy, but turned off by
default. There's plenty of time to make it not the default before
release. Those that want it can turn it on. Perhaps for Hardy +1, it can
be default, if it's ready enough. As of now, Pulse Audio is too
unstable/incomplete to even be considered for an LTS release. If it's
turned on by default, many people will complain, and the forums will be
flooded, unless a miracle can fix all of these problems in two days.

** Affects: pulseaudio (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
