Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: linux-restricted-modules-2.6.24-16-generic
When restoring from Hibernate, a dimmed desktop (with any open windows
from the hibernated session) is displayed for approx. 30 seconds before
the "Locked" dialog appears and prompts for a password. If a computer
hibernates with confidential information on the screen- this poses as
security risk because that information is displayed for a period of time
before the password prompt is displayed. It does not appear there is any
interactive access to the desktop- but clearly someone could read any
information on it without logging-in.
Normally on restore from hibernate- a blank screen (or wallpaper) is
displayed with a login prompt, with absolutely no display or access to
the hibernated desktop until the user is authenticated.
Description: Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy Heron)
Release: 8.04 (RC)
Using ATI "Restricted" driver with "Normal" visual effects.
Computer is a Dell Lattitude 131L (AMD Turion 64-bit dual core) w/ 2GB RAM.
(If I read the "Hardware Test" information correctly, additional hardware
information should be stored in Launchpad.)
** Affects: linux-restricted-modules-2.6.24 (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
