Yes, it prints correctly when you print to file but not when you use a printer PPD. It also works when you use the PDF driver provided with cups-pdf.
The main difference between the PDF virtual printer and a printer driver is that in the 1rst case CUPS doesn't call Ghostscript. I suspect that, under some conditions, Evince is generating bad postscript code. But I need some time to dive deeper into this area.
