Public bug reported:

Readahead's README.Debian file says that readahead should not be used on
NFS mounts, and indeed it greatly slows down the boot. Yet there is no
easy or elegant way to disable it; uninstalling the package is
impractical because ubuntu-desktop depends on it.

Ideally, the init script should consult a file in /etc/default/ before
running.

** Affects: readahead-list (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: Unconfirmed
