I see the same problem using Gutsy 7.10 on an MSI MB with ICH9R and two Seagate Barracuda SATA drives. I first installed XP on the fresh drives setup as RAID1. Then I attempted to install kubuntu. Dmraid was able to activate the volume fine and I added an extended partition and logical partitions for linux using fdisk. I then created file systems (ext3 & swap) on the newly created logical partitions. After creating the file systems, dmraid would no longer activate the partitions. /dev/mapper has only a control file. dmesg shows:
device-mapper: table :254:0 mirror: Device lookup failure device-mapper: ioctl: error adding target to table I tried changing partition UUIDs to make them unique between the mirrored drives, but it had no effect. It seems to be related to having created file systems on the partitions. ~petev -- ich8 dmraid (fakeraid) failed upgrade from edgy to feisty https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/110245 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
