I have the same problem. At least numpad-4 and numpad-2 cause the
segfault. I quit trying after that. I just upgraded from 7.10 to 8.04 as
well.

I'm using the nvidia graphics drivers, installed with twinview, but
without tweaking.

Description:    Ubuntu 8.04

My best clue comes from .xsessionq-errors, which complains of missing
symbols:

expected keysym, got XF86KbdLightOnOff: line 70 of pc
