Public security bug reported:
Ubuntu 8.04 'definitive' release of 24th April 2008.
Unlike Ubuntu 7.10, mirror-connected installation from CD fails to find,
mount and display desktop icons for PC drives (FAT or NTFS). So I took advice
from other MicroMart Forum members.
When the drives are manually found, mounted and displayed using Nautilus
display, from Places, Computer they only remain in place for the session and
are lost by a Restart.
BUT during such a session all my outstanding audio-video package conflicts
vanish, presumably because those packages can then 'see' and mount the needed
drives !
If this installation 'glitch' is fixed, I bet that a lot of other reported
problems will also vanish !
I hope that someone reads this and makes that happen !
