Public bug reported:
Description: Ubuntu 8.04
Release: 8.04
This nForce 630i (MCP73) based motherboard has a Realtek ALC882 chip and
uses the snd-hda-intel driver. The Alsa packages that came with Hardy
could play analog sound, but not digital (optical out).
Connectors on the motherboard are organized as 6 analog connectors in
the back along with optical out, and 2 analog connectors for the front
panel.
The problem was fixed after manually updating Alsa with the latest
snapshots at the time of testing:
alsa-driver-hg20080426.tar.bz2
alsa-lib-hg20080422.tar.bz2
alsa-utils-hg20080422.tar.bz2
** Affects: alsa-driver (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
