Public bug reported:

I have a Compaq Presario 2104US which has an ATI Mobility U1 in it. I
tried getting the external display working (connected via VGA) but was
unable to do so. I tried using xrandr --auto (nothing happened), tried
the screen resolution as well as the screens & graphics utility but
neither worked. I also tried messing with xorg.conf which resulted in
the laptop restarting using the vesa driver which does use the external
display in clone mode, but graphically I am unable to display video
(choppy)

lspci output says
01:05.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Radeon Mobility U1

** Affects: ubuntu
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
