Nothing new. I can confirm that the wrong behaviour is there, even though it is occasional. I could observe it four or five times in the last months. Unfortunately, I was never in the position to check which screensaver hack was in use at the time, I'll try to note that next time.
As far as brightside is concerned, it is useful to me, and disabling it for at least one month to check this is for the moment impossible.
