The problem still exists in 1.4.9.1 for monkey's audio. In other words
"ape" is still misspelled "a&pe", meaning that it cannot be chosen as an
option. That said, Amarok doesn't recognise Monkey's Audio files anyway,
at least when using xine as a back end, so I guess this isn't massively
urgent.
