In 7.04, the fonts were clean, clear, and sharp on the desktop, in
Firefox, in the Gnome terminal, everywhere, especially with the right
settings. After doing a clean install of 8.04, no matter what settings
you use, the fonts range from fuzzy to extremely fuzzy. It doesn't
matter if you use the exact same settings as 7.04 by way of using both
the "dpkg-reconfigure fontconfig-config" tool and the Gnome font
management tool. No matter what, the fonts are fuzz city now. And
also, before it was possible to get evently-spaced fonts by way of using
the Autohinter rendering method instead of Native. Now, if you use
Native the fonts are all too close together, and with Autohinter they're
all very unevenly spaced.
