I can confirm this bug.
When using the GUI to chage the desktop path, the $HOME/.config/user-dirs.dirs
file is modified in this way:
XDG_DESKTOP_DIR[$e]="/home/bruno/test/"
although it should be:
XDG_DESKTOP_DIR="/$HOME/test/"
