This bug has nothing to do with Usplash or Network Manager. Yes, the
errors from NM are visible, but they are_not the cause of what is
hanging the system on shutdown. I've been looking into this and it seems
to be GDM causing the problems. This bug should be reopened and filed
against GDM.
