Ubuntu 8.04 with 2.6.24-16-generic kernel
Without the following the 8.04 fails to boot waiting for a root file system and
Busybox
acpi=off boots but doesn't shut down
acpi=ht boots but doesn't shut down
pci=noacpi boots but doesn't shut down
acpi=noirq boots but doesn't shut down
pnpacpi=off fails to boot
noapic fails to boot
nolacpi fails to boot
:~$ uname -a
Linux Handssolow-desktop 2.6.24-16-generic #1 SMP Thu Apr 10 13:23:42 UTC 2008
i686 GNU/Linux
