OK, thanks. Please open a Terminal, and do this:
killall gnome-volume-manager
/usr/lib/gnome-volume-manager/gnome-volume-manager -n 2>&1 | tee /tmp/gvm.log
then plug in your camera, there should be some more output. After it
settled down, press Control-C and restore the background g-v-m with
/usr/lib/gnome-volume-manager/gnome-volume-manager
