Ubuntu 8.04 - clean install from CD rather than upgrade from 7.10 on a
Dell Inspiron 510m laptop
I switched off the 'tap to click' option in System>Preferences>Mouse -
on first boot, this is fine, but if I don't type anything or use the
mouse for a few seconds, the touchpad 'locks up' for a short while and
then comes back
When it comes back, 'tap to click' is active, even though it is still
disabled in System>Preferences>Mouse and changing the setting there has
no effect. Also, it seems hyper-sensitive.
I've checked the bug database and wonder if this could be related to
34501 or 47971 (also 140599, although this one was closed as the problem
could not be replicated) although the symptoms are not identical.
