Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: gnome-session
Hello,
I'm trying to switch from ubuntu to kubuntu on a new install. I managed to
install kubuntu, but when remiving the left over ubuntu packages I get errors.
For example I start with gnome-session, dosn't matter if I try this through
aptitude purge, aptitude remove or dpkg -r (with and without --force-all) I
keep getting the following error:
Removing gnome-session ...
dpkg: error processing gnome-session (--remove):
subprocess post-removal script returned error exit status 1
Errors were encountered while processing:
gnome-session
If I try to reinstall it I get the same error, except that post-install
script failed.
I had this problem before, which is the reason why I chose to reinstall
my edgy eft install, thinking it will fix it. But seems like not.
Interestingly those errors started on this new install after I run a
dist-upgrade, so maybe some update broke dpkg? I checked dpkg's
changelog, but the october 4th update had only adding newlines to error
messages, some chagnes to description format and something about
permissions? Could the last change cause this problem?
