No I cannot retrive /var/log/syslog. It is empty now on that disk. Two new
partitions were created from the partition that held Ubuntu Dapper. I
haven't been able to boot to the new partitions but can mount them in Dapper
and examine them.
I could try re-installing Edgey and see what happens
