Thank you for your report. However, I think it's not because of your graphics
card, but because of your monitor.
The current version of X in Hardy(7.3) automatically detects which resolutions
are good for the monitor and graphics card. But some monitors aren't supported.
Could you please try again with another monitor and post the name/type of your
current monitor? Please also attach /var/log/Xorg.0.log
