I have the same error (I believe) in AMD64 Hardy. There are no optical
drives found on my system while in Hardy. I do not see one listed in
DEV/. The drive is listed correctly in my fstab as I can boot into Gutsy
and drive is present and mounts, ect. I also have a Hardy alt CD that
will boot and start the install process fine. After the kernal; loads
and it scans for a cdrom drive it returns with an error that there is no
cdrom drive found. I have fstab, mtab, mount, and lshw listed here :
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=4864517#post4864517. Thanks for
the help!
