Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gphoto2

Gphoto2 gives the following:

An error occurred in the io-library ('Error updating the port settings'):
Couldnot release interface 1 (Invalid argument).
*** Error (-37: 'Error updating the port settings') ***

I have searched the net and came to the conclusion that my ubunutu
dapper 6.06 should have /dev/sd* automatically created when a USB device
is plugged in. These are not created.

All applications that use the camera for photography can see and report
the camera correctly. They just cannot seem to access it.

Included with Ubuntu is the Ekiga Softphone. This uses the spca5xx
driver and works fine. Therefore the camera, cables etc are working.

Any clue why this has occured? I also downloaded and ran Knoppix,
whichhas the same kernel release. These programs do not work with that
O/S either.

They did work with Mandriva 10.1.

I would appreciate any help in debugging this problem>

Regards

Martin Prior
