I have spent the last 24 hours trying to resolve this issue. What I now know is that the new kernel no longer recognises some wireless cards and drivers that were fine in Gutsy. So it seems that the alternatives are to implement a workaround or to install a new compatible wireless card. I've been researching the first and have yet to discover anything that works in a foolproof way for my Linksys WPM54GS. So I am now leaning towards the second solution without any clear idea of what PCI card will definitely work.
