Well, I'm totally bewildered. Today I tried to install Kubuntu 8.04 again, on the same hardware and with the same CDs. Everything worked fine this time. On this occasion, after usplash screen the monitor goes off only about 3 seconds but then load correctly the X. I do not remember having changed some settings in the BIOS. I do not know if my problem will have to do with these other bugs:
