** Description changed: This problem arose after upgrading from Gutsy to Hardy. Through the - headphones, I am getting a soft high pitched tone, alone with little, + headphones, I am getting a soft high pitched tone, along with little, slightly louder, blips. I connected my headphones to the speaker jack, and it is fine there. The loudness of this tone and the blips is unaffected by the volume setting. My motherboard, which has the sound controllers, is an Asus P5B, with the intel p965 express chipset. I looked at the bootup sequence by pressing ctrl+alt+f1. The problem begins right after the hardware drivers are loaded. ok, I'm looking at the box. It looks like the audio chipset is ADI AD1988A 8-channel High Definition Audio CODEC?
