Public bug reported:
With standard Hardy (linux-image-2.6.24-16-generic) I've correct usplash
at boot & at shutdown (graphics and progress bar working 100% OK) on my
Dell D610 laptop. But after installing linux-image-2.6.24-17-generic
from hardy-proposed section I've no usplash screen on shutdown (on boot
everything is OK). Exactly after swiching from X there is black screen
on tty8 (on tty7 I've info about GDM stopping), after a while I get
errors from network-manager:
NetworkManager: <WARN> nm_hal_deinit(): libhal shutdown failed - connection is
closed
NetworkManager: nm_hal_deinit(): nm_dbus_signal_device_status_change: assertion
'cb_data->data->
bus_connection' failed
NetworkManager: nm_hal_deinit(): nm_dbus_signal_device_status_change: assertion
'cb_data->data->
bus_connection' failed
NetworkManager: <WARN> nm_dbus_init(): nm_dbus_init could not get the system
bus. Make sure the message bus daemon is running!
Finally I get correct usplash screen just before shutdown - only 2 last
parts of progress bard are displayed correctly and then my PC shuts down
normally.
This is for sure from linux-image-2.6.24-17-generic since I've both
kernels installed and if I choose linux-image-2.6.24-16-generic at
startup everything is OK.
BTW on my standalone PC everithing is OK with latest kernel so maybe
it's related to this particular hardware - Dell D610 (I attach lspci
output).
