Could you please recheck the issue with Hardy Final installation or Live CD? If
you use 3D apps it is generally a good idea to disable compiz.
If it doesn't work please attach the files /var/log/Xorg.0.log and
/var/log/Xorg.0.log.old directly after logout and login.
