For me X crashes shortly after login (10s?) with a similar stack trace. Also see bug 211689, which has been recharacterized as an nVidia driver problem, yet has a similar stack trace.
Also, prior to the crash I observe a very strange looking desktop. It looks as though the original desktop had been turned to black and white, then forced to occupy the leftmost 2/3 of the screen. The remaining 1/3 looks as it should, but there is some color separation, as though my monitor needed adjustment. This is with the Hardy release CD (i386 and KDE4 remix) and the "vesa" driver in my xorg.conf. The AMD64 version behaves even worse.
