Thanks for your bugreport.
This sounds like your system is not allowed to write on the nfs mount as
root (option rootsquash in exports). You can test this by running "touch
/usr/share/wallpapers/foo" (as root) and see if that gives you a error
too.
If that is the case, I will make it into a feature request to check if
part of the filesystem (e.g. /usr) are nfs-mounted without
"no_rootsquash" and then abort/warn the user.
