Public bug reported:
I use Kubuntu 8.04 on x86.
When I configure my network card via System Settings->Network Settings so that
it asks a DHCP Server while booting, nothing changes. The card is still down
at next booting. Doing sudo ifup eth0 gives
the error message: Ignoring unknown interface eth0=eth0. When I do sudo
ifconfig eth0 up, all went fine. The card stays up.
In network manager, I got the following error message: Could not paqrse the XML
output from the network configuration backend.
After then, the card goes down and if I try to get it enabled again, it is
enabled and then goes immediately into status disbled.
dmesg shows nothing. The card is a Broadcom Corporation BCM5501-B0 card.
In kubuntu 7.10, the card worked perfectly.
