My DELL Inspiron 6000 laptop's boot is very slow in hardy (gutsy used to work 
well,AFAICR); without "quiet" and "splash" kernel options I can see the  
problem occurs because ata_piix takes too long (30 seconds at least)  to 
inizialize the disk.

I noticed a roughly similar problem in bugzilla.kernel.org bug #9491,
don't know if it's really related...
