I have kde4.03 installed but am using kde3.5.9 when this happens.
ATI1300 graphics with 512mb ram and using fglrx
This is a new install, logout, restart produces a dark but not black screen and
it hangs. after waiting 4 or 5 minutes i use ctrl Alt SysRq RSEIUB and then
able to get a reboot and shutdown. after writing this I am going to try from a
terminal, I tried just changing from fglrx to vesa but this results in the
same, not sure if i needed to
do a dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg to actually go to vesa but could try that
later.
