I am experiencing video lockups with Kubuntu 8.04 (AMD64). Intermittently, but
always under heavier processing:
- Backing up DVDs with k9copy
- Making ogg files with K3B (but so far, no lockups while burning CDs or DVDs).
- OpenGL screensavers
- Using high speed fast-forward with Celestia
The result is a hard lockup with a sprinkle of pixel fragments somewhere
on the screen.
Video is ATI X1250 (128MB shared memory) using the latest fglrx (from
Ubuntu repositories) and no compiz fusion packages installed.
