Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: nvidia-kernel-common
When exiting the screen saver my X session crashed leaving the screen
corrupted. It was possible to ssh into the box although the screen saver
processes where using most of the CPU time. I was unable to restart X
with the /etc/inid./gdb stop/start sequence and had to reboot in the
end. The kern.log indicates a crash in the (binary) nvidia module. I
couldn't find a place to report the bug to nvidia so am reporting it
here. Serves me right for using binary drivers I guess...
system: dual core x86_64 pc
distro: Hardy Heron
uname: Linux pitcairn 2.6.24-16-generic #1 SMP Thu Apr 10 12:47:45 UTC 2008
x86_64 GNU/Linux
Please see attachments for the gory details. I've left the reboot in the
kernel log in case you want to see the system layout.
