Binary package hint: update-manager-core
While upgrading a box from edgy to hardy by way of feisty&gutsy, do-
release-upgrade refused to make the feisty->gutsy upgrade:
Getting upgrade prerequisites failed
The system was unable to get the prerequisites for the upgrade. The
upgrade will abort now and restore the original system state.
Please report this as a bug against the 'update-manager' package
and include the files in /var/log/dist-upgrade/ in the bugreport.

Looking at the progress above this output, I see that it's trying
gb.archive.ubuntu.com, although the system is behind a firewall that
only allows access to the archive server that the system was configured
with:

If I run "LANG=C do-release-upgrade" something even stranger happens:
It tries to access:
http://c.archive.ubuntu.com feisty-backports Release.gpg
This is... peculiar behavior.
Overriding the user's choice of mirrors seems like a very bad idea, to
me. It is certainly causing problems in this case. I have hacked
around it to get this system upgraded, but many people will be trying
this soon when edgy becomes unsupported.
