Hi there, I've got a related problem with an eMachines M6811 laptop. From one kernel version to the next, wireless completely stopped to work. The device is properly registered, but neither does it show any networks nor do manual connection attemps succeed. Oddly, the name of device is now "Unknown Unknown", whereas before it was something along of "Broadcom 4306."
