Here it still needs passing "irqpoll" to the kernel. :-( Using my own (vanilla, Linus) compiled kernels (getting it stripped to a minimum) does not cause any need of the option to the kernel. I repeat here: if needed, I can perform some "git bisect" tests to see if that can help (perhaps it's a patch incorporated by Ubuntu, perhaps is something else that I disable).
