I've experienced absolutely the same problem. I've upgraded from this repository too: deb http://kubuntu.org/packages/kde-355 dapper main
Moreover, some kcmshell modules like disks&file systems, services, users, started crashing when I upgraded to KDE 3.5.5. In addition to that some 3-rd party kioslaves I installed, don't work anymore. Upgrade to KDE 3.5.5 was the only thing I've done before noticing those problems.
