Please find attached the recommended attachments. It seems that the dmesg and kernel logs are from my successful boots, not the one with the bug. I don't have a camera available to photograph the boot screen, but I see that immediately before the TPPS/2 module hangs, there is an attempt to load a module called Padlock that throws an error. I will try blacklisting this.
I did already try blacklisting the Intel_rng module. The kernel succeeded in booting, but I was left with no network interfaces, as in the above reports. Also, NB: I see the subject line says 2.6.24-12. I am having this problem under 2.6.24-17. I wonder if I should file a new bug?
